What's Up Wakefield? Oct. 8

Wakefield Music Boosters hold comedy night at Giggles Wednesday night.

Good morning. Here are some things worth knowing in Wakefield this Monday, October 8.

The Wakefield Music Boosters will sponsor a comedy night at Giggles Comedy Club at Prince Pizza (517 Broadway, Saugus) on Wednesday, October 10.  Join them for all-you-can-eat pizza beginning at 7:00 and the comedy performance from 8:00 - 9:30 p.m.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by contacting Charlene Flint at Charlene.flint@verizon.net.  All proceeds will support music students as they raise fund for their performance in Disney World.

Tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m., the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence presents “Dear Lisa” at the Wakefield Center for the Performing Arts. The program is in memory of a woman who died at the hands of an abuser she had dated back in 1994. Tom Santoro, father of Lisa, leads the discussion.

Today is Columbus Day. Here’s a look at what’s open and closed. Also, here’s a talker piece for the day asking – Should Columbus Day even be a holiday
