What's Up Wakefield? November 12

Today: Hurricane relief opportunities and a fundraiser for the Wakefield Basketball Association.

Good morning. Here are some things worth knowing in Wakefield this Monday, November 12, 2012.

Hurricane Relief: If you can lend a hand to those still struggling in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, there’s a couple of local ways to help out. First, this article notes that until Monday afternoon, you can drop off batteries, flashlights and water to 5 Lake Street, where a local 6 year old boy enlisted his family and their friends to fill a truckload of donated items.

However, if you don’t have time to get down to Lake Street before the truck leaves, the Wakefield Rotary Club is collecting donated items as well. Donations can be dropped off at Holiday Travel at 402 Main Street in Wakefield. Click here for more information.

VIN Etching: The Wakefield Police are offering Vehicle Identification Number etching to lower the risk of car thefts, this Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the town’s DPW garage. Click here for more information.

Wakefield Basketball Association Fundraiser: Today from 4 to 8 p.m., the Wakefield Basketball Association has a fundraiser at Prince Pizza on Route 1 in Saugus. Click here to get a voucher from the WBA’s website so that 25% of your purchase will be donated.
