What's Open and Closed on Memorial Day in Wakefield?
In general, restaurants and retail stores will remain open, but government offices and schools will be closed. Trash pickup will be pushed back a day.
It's a three-day weekend this weekend for most of us because of the recognition of Memorial Day on Monday, May 28, 2012.
However, this also means lots of other folks get a day off too, meaning schools, offices and government offices will be closed. Here's a quick rundown of the types of stores that are open.
Open: Some retail stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, bars and pubs.
Closed: Wakefield Town Hall, Wakefield Public Schools, the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library, Post Offices, banks, stock markets, federal, state and county offices, liquor stores.
Trash and recycling: Pick-ups are on a one-day delay for the week.
