Bagel place

Second that. Need a bagel place. Location at train is ideal but a steak place opened

Starbucks or similar coffee shop in the center (former CVS?), with WiFi, "healthy-ish" snack foods (late/small breakfast/lunch, soups, etc.), and bagels sounds good too.

We had a bagel place in the square at one point, like everything else in Wakefield Sq, it didn't last long. You can't get into the Dunkin Donuts in the Square without being hit up for money by a local "character" (trying to be polite here), that does not make a business owner who is scouting out possible locations want to locate there

Ha. 1st thing I thought was "bagel place" Btw, the bagel place that we had "at one time" had terrible food! And hat was a long time ago. People are back on carbs. Bagels would go gangbusters!

I know people are down on restaurants, but I think we need places to congregate and socialize. Meaning a better bar scene. Im not suggesting we all get swilled and roam Main Street shouting out obscenities in the wee hours - but if it's just about the food you can get takeout. You sit in because you want ambiance. If restaurants want locals to eat and drink local, lighten up. Get better bar scenes. Hire a pub musician. I adore the food at Italia but after a busy day with kids, running around doing errands, I'm not looking to gaze at my friends over starched linens and talk quietly. Its not a date. I'm looking to go out locally, laugh a bit, have a glass of wine or two and feel like I'm somewhere else. Restaurants are designed for eating - great ! - but a good bar is where the action is.

Also if Alanos doesnt do it, then for the love of Pete, someone needs to open a dance gear/Girl Scout uniform/Communion dress shop. Right now if you need pink tights, or ballet slippers, or a GS badge you have to drive all over the North Shore. Every year people need dance stuff (i.e ballet slippers, leotards, tap shoes, white tap shoe polish etc etc), gymnastics gear, ice skate laces, holiday tights, hats, mittens, summer beach wraps. Why isnt someone catering to the suburban blogher mommys?

Anything other than a nail/hair salon or pizza shop. We have plenty of those.

A bakery, with artisanal breads, pastries, scones, sandwiches, and great coffee!
I used to live in Salem and miss A & J King Bakery so much! I think people from Wakefield and surrounding towns would patronize such a place in Wakefield!

An independent book store. Also, Trader Joes would be great.

Panera's would be a great place to have in downtown. They have great food.
