Wakefield Started Year With Almost No Foreclosure Activity

Data for Warren Group finds state, local foreclosure situation looking better as 2013 began.

Foreclosure activity for Wakefield consisted of just one foreclosure petition during the month of January, according to recent data from the Warren Group.

The Massachusetts-based real estate information company reported no foreclosure auctions or foreclosure deeds for January, 2013 either.

Statewide, the number of foreclosure petitions was reportedly down 30% between January 2012 and January 2013 - when 940 were recorded in Massachusetts.

"We're finally seeing a clear picture of the trend in foreclosures - and it is good news," said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group. "The housing market has greatly improved - a sign that the economy is gaining ground and foreclosures will continue to subside."
