Wakefield Native Joins NBC's 'The Voice'

James Massone, a Wakefield native, was accepted into NBC's singing competition in an episode that aired on Monday night.

A Wakefield native joined NBC's singing compeition "The Voice" on Monday night.

James Massone, 23 a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School Class of 2006, performed a cover of "Find your Love" by Drake and was accepted onto the show.

"This audition is the biggest thing I've ever done," he said on the show.

Massone's performance wowed three out of the four coaches, Blake Shelton,  Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera.

"I was so pleased to hear your voice because it has such a quality about it," said Cee Lo Green. "It was very calm, it was very smooth, and clear."

Massone then had to choose which coach to work with between the three grammy-nominated choices.

He chose to work with Cee Lo Green.

"I've got to go with Cee Lo," he said, in choosing Green as his coach.

Local Roots
Massone, a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School, is remembered around town as a song and dance man who enthralled his class with his impromptu sessions of entertainment  culminating in his “bring down the house” performance in the 2006 edition of the Senior Show.

In his interview, Massone said he's been working in his family's auto body business, Malden Auto Body in Everett, but he hopes his appearance on the show will change that.

"I come in every morning around 8 a.m. and do body work on cars," he said on the show. "I don't want to go back to the shop just yet - this is my dream, and this is what I want to do."
