Wakefield Home Sales Start 2013 on Positive Note

Single family home sales were up compared to January 2012, while condo sales down somewhat.

The real estate market is off to a strong start in Wakefield for 2013, according to new data from the Warren Group.

In January, there were 12 single-family home sales recorded in Wakefield – compared to just six for that month in 2012. The median sale price for Wakefield was $402,500 in January.

In the condo market, there were four sales reported in January 2013, compared to seven for that month last year.

Statewide, the Warren Group reported that single family home sales for January were at their highest level since 2007.

"We ended 2012 on a pretty positive note, and this is carrying into January," said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group. "Recent pending sales data are a hopeful sign for a strong spring market. And given low mortgage rates and steady prices, there are positive signs that 2013 will be a second year of recovery."
