Wakefield Businesses Quick to Support Marathon Bomb Victims

Several town businesses have already announced fundraising initiatives to support those injured in Monday's Boston Marathon terrorist attack.

Several Wakefield businesses have been quick to show their support for locals who were injured in the Boston Marathon terrorist attack.

As has been established to help assist two brothers, one of them a Wakefield resident and the other a Stoneham resident, who each lost a leg in the blast.

For other local residents, tragedy may have been averted by something as simple as timing. Wakefield runner Shawn Conway told Wakefield Patch Tuesday that he crossed the marathon's finish line around 1:15 p.m. - and that his family had been waiting for him in the exact area of the blast before leaving it to join him. The bombs went off shortly before 3 p.m.

In Lynnfield, five-time Boston Marathon runner Mike DiSilvio told Patch.com that his family waits for him every year at that same spot near the finish line and that each year, he stops and gets his son, Cole, and brings him across the finish line with him. DiSilvio was less than a half mile from the finish line when the bombs went off - and this year, his wife and three children happened to be on a trip to Washington D.C. instead.

Wakefield Businesses Giving Their Support
