Janice Nigro honored by Massachusetts Lawyer's Weekly at the 5th annual Top Women Of Law Luncheon earlier this fall.

Attorney Janice Nigro of Nigro, Pettepit & Lucas, LLP, has been selected as a 2012 Top Women of Law honoree by Massachusetts Lawyer’s Weekly. Attorney Nigro was one of 50 inspiring women honored at the 5th Annual Top Women of Law Luncheon on October 12th at the Hynes Convention Center, an event that celebrated women who have made “great professional strides and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in private practice, the corporate arena and social advocacy.”

As the 2009-2011 Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Probate Council, Janice worked with the Massachusetts Bar Association and others to establish educational programs to address the needs of the bar, courts and citizens of Massachusetts following the overhaul of the Massachusetts probate law and the implementation of the new Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code (“MUPC”).

In 2011 and 2012 Attorney Nigro volunteered countless hours to educate her fellow bar members throughout the state on the new laws.  She served as faculty for seminars on the new MUPC and helped organize the “MUPC Resource Desks” that have been set up in each probate court to assist the courts, attorneys and pro se litigants with the new laws.  She was honored by the Massachusetts Bar Association in July for her volunteer efforts to educate fellow bar members and the greater legal community regarding the changes in probate laws.
