Transformer Explosion And Hit And Run Among Wednesday Calls

Wakefield Police responded to these and other calls for service on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.
At 10:54 a.m., an employee of a Main Street business reported that somebody had struck her vehicle and driven off. A green Ford Explorer was reportedly spotted leaving the scene.
At 12:19 p.m., a transformer explosion near Vernon Street and Lowell Street was reported. The fire department and gas and light company were also notified.
At 7:02 p.m., an unresponsive male was reported in a room at the Clarion on North Ave. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital.
At 8:24 p.m., police arrested Daniel Patrick Burns, 27, 16 Lafayette Street, Wakefield, on a warrant. At the time, an officer was responding to a report of a suspicious car with two occupants in a parking lot on Quannapowitt Parkway.
