Here are a few things worth knowing on Thursday, July 5, 2012:
Weather: The heat wave continues. Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. No showers are in the forecast.
Community: Plaza Jazz, part of the 2012 Berklee Summer in the City Concert Series continues with a live performance by English Tom in the Bookstore at 5:30 p.m. today at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library. When Kevin Clark and Wil Tecla met, they were just a pianist and a drummer, but as they came to realize they shared a very similar goal and drive, they quickly began putting together the foundation that is English Tom in the Bookstore. Also featuring saxophonists Derrick Tate and Utril Rhaburn, bass player Mike Dyer, and flute player Julia Price, the group blends jazz and hip-hop.
Business: Tonight's the night for yummy cocktails and desserts at Silver Clay Gifts. Stop by from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to join in on the fun. More info here.
Food: If you can't get enough farmers' markets, there's one open in Melrose today from 1- 7 p.m. The Melrose Market is located in Bowden Park, which is up the street from the Library and right next to the Cedar Park commuter station..
