Red Cross Extends Deadline for 'Hero' Nominations
The American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts is looking for North Shore heroes.
Do you know a hero living here in Wakefield or on the North Shore?
The American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts has its Annual Heroes Breakfast planned for the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore hotel in March.
The nomination period had originally been closed but it now has been extended to Jan. 18. The nomination form is attached to this story as a PDF.
The Red Cross says to ask yourself: "Is there a member of your community who has done something extraordinary? Someone who exhibits care and compassion for others?"
Those are the types of people the Red Cross is looking for its six awards:
The territory for the American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts runs from Amesbury down to Lynn and includes Danvers, which will host the awards breakfast on March 21. Nominees must either live or work in the communities served by the American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts or their heroic act occurred in the service area.

The towns covered, according to the nomination brochure, are: *Amesbury, Andover, Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Groveland,
Hamilton, Haverhill, Ipswich, Lawrence, Lynn, Lynnfield, Manchester, Marblehead, Merrimac, Methuen, Middleton, Nahant, Newbury, Newburyport, N. Andover, Peabody, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, Salisbury, Saugus, Swampscott,
Topsfield, Wenham, W. Newbury.
Your question, Robert (Do you know a hero living here in Wakefield or on the North Shore?), does not made clear to the reader that the hero nominated must either live or have performed the acts of heroism in only these towns that comprise the American Red Cross of Northeast Massachusetts area. There are many Wakefield residents I could nominate, but they live and work right here.

Thanks, DBC. I'll see if I can find a link to the correct Red Cross region for Wakefield. We'll update the post so it is corrected once I know.
