I thought I felt the whole house shake last night but my husband convinced me it was the washer in the spin cycle :)

I was at Livingston leaning against a light pole and thought a herd of elephants were running through. The poles swayed but the kids (at least mine) didn't even notice because they were running around.

I was sitting on our couch and all of sudden it started to vibrate. I looked at my husband and he looked at me and of course we said to each other, "what was that"? My husband immediately went down to the basement check the furnace. It felt like it may have come from the basement which was below us. I immediately called my neighbor to find out if they felt it. It was only then that it came over the TV that Maine had an earthquake.

Shapleigh ME...we had no idea what it was. All kinds of things went thru my head, earthquake wasn't one of them. I have never felt anything like it before in my life. It was like a loud explosion but there is nothing around here to blow up. The whole house was shaking. Our house is about 5 miles from the center.
Both my wife and I grew up in Marblehead.
