POLICE LOG: Wakefield Man Accused of Violating Abuse Prevention Order

At 1:13 p.m. Aug. 24, Wakefield police responded to Salem Street after receiving a call from a Chapman Road woman claiming a man tried to take custody of his children. Gaetano Denardo, 44, of 399 Main St., Wakefield, was arrested and charged with six counts of violating an abuse prevention order. Denardo was served a restraining order while in custody.

@7:33 a.m.: Police called to Redfield Road for a report of a stove fire. Fire Department notified.
@8:34 a.m.: A person visited the police station to report a hit-and-run incident.
@10:45 a.m.: Police responded to Main Street on a report of larceny. The caller reported theft and vandalism at their residence. Police filed a report.
@12:59 p.m.: Police called to Wicker Lane on a report of a motor vehicle crash into a mailbox. A message was left with homeowner by driver. Minor damage done to mailbox.
@4:14 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Quannapowitt Parkway and Lowell Street for a report of three hispanic men allegedly abusing a chihuahua at the head of Lake Quannapowitt. Officers were unable to located anyone in the area.
@6:53 p.m.: Police called to Main Street to conduct a well-being check. The caller asked police to check on her bipolar son, who had not been taking his medications and was intoxicated, according to police. The door was debolted from inside. Fire Department requested for entry. The man voluntarily went to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for evaluation.
