Police Log: Man Loses Control of Car, Hits Tree, Light Pole, Flips Over on Chestnut Street
The driver, who escaped the crash with just minor injuries, will be summoned to court to face several reckless driving charges.

Featured item: Wakefield Police are summoning to court a driver that lost control of his vehicle on Chestnut Street and hit a light pole and then a tree, flipping over his black SUV around 7:45 a.m. on April 12.
Police said that the driver, a Wakefield man, was traveling on Chestnut Street when he lost control of the operation of his car, and struck a light pole and then a tree, which caused the SUV to flip upside down.
The driver was able to escape from the car himself, before police arrived. He was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for minor injuries.
Police are charging the driver, a Wakefield man, with operating to endager and a marked lanes violation.
9:07 a.m. - An employee at a Pleasant Street group home reported that one of the patients with a history of running away went to take out the trash and did not come back inside. However, the person returned home a short time later.
10:50 a.m. - A resident of Lake Street reported that someone stole a pile of metal that had been sitting at the top of his driveway. The victim said that as he was coming home, he saw a black pickup truck puling out of his driveway, then, as he got closer to his home, noticed the mtal was gone. He was unable to get a plate reading on the truck. Police are currently investigating.
1:57 p.m. - A crisis team reported to Lafayette Street for a member of a group home that had barricaded herself in her room and was threatening to hurt herself. She was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
3 p.m. - A car crash invovling three cars was reported at the 129 Rotary. The State Police were notified as one vehicle was on the north bound off ramp.
4:37 p.m. - A resident of Chestnut Street reported that someone has been stealing jewelry from her home to the tune of $20,000. Eight items in total were reported stolen, including diamond ring, a bracelet, a couple of pendants, an wedding rings. The victim said she thought at first she had misplaced the items, but later realized too many were missing. The victim said the items first started disappearing last September. Police said they have a potential suspect whom they are currently investigating.
7:47 p.m. - A resident of Bartley Street reported to police that when he went to file his taxes, the IRS told him that someone had already used his social security number to file them. He told police he suspects identity fraud, although he hasn't seen any other indications of identity fraud at this time.
10:49 p.m. - The Meuthen Police Department asked the Wakefield Police Department to check on a resident of Bartley Street, who has called the Meuthen Police Department several times, believing he is calling India. Police said the man is trying to call India, but was somehow repeatedly dialing the wrong number.
