Police Log: Lynnfield Man Charged with OUI

The following information was supplied by the Wakefield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Feb. 18,
12:56 a.m. - A Lynnfield man was arrested in Wakefield for allegedly driving drunk on Salem Street. Police said they observed Thomas Terranova, 21, of 37 Apple Hill Lane in Lynfield in the Irving gas station parking lot acting suspicious. As soon as he began to drive, police pulled him over. He was given field sobriety tests and allegedly failed them. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence.

Friday, Feb. 20:
7:51 a.m. - A minor car crash was reported on Main Street in front of the Cooperative Bank. No injuries were reported.

6:26 p.m. - Wakefield Police responded to Jordan Ave for a residential alarm. When officers arrived, they found a window on home's back door had been smashed open. However, nothing in the home appeared to have been stolen. Police believe the alarm system scared away a potential burglar.

7:18 p.m. - A woman reported finding an apartment on Craigslist that she wanted to rent, and meeting the purported landlord on Preston Strete in Wakefield. The victim said she paid the man posing as the landlord $140 in cash, then decided to go look at the apartment. However, the apartment did not actually exist. She attempted to follow up with the landlord but he stopped responding to her.

7:41 p.m. - A resident of Wakefield Avenue reported that someone had paid $30 of her phone bill. Police determined the caller was struggling with mental health issues.

8:07 p.m. - A Salem woman will be summoned to court for allegedly punching a male in the face after a verbal argument at a residence on Armory Street.

11:28 p.m. - A two-car crash occured on Lowell Street, however, no injuries were reported.

11:59 p.m. - Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Butternut Road for a male and a female having a verbal argument. The two were separated for the night.

Saturday, Feb. 18:
2:25 a.m. - A Wakefield resident will be summoned to court for having no inspection sticker and driving a car without a license. Police said they observed a 2002 gray pickup truck swerving across the center yellow line. A registry check of the vehicle yielded the operator did not have a sticker or a valid license. He will be summoned to Malden District court.

3:15 a.m. - A Halifax, MA resident was stopped in Wakefield for allegedly driving with a suspended license on Traverse Street.  She will be summoned to Malden District Court.

11:02 a.m. - A Wakefield resident was charged with driving an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle on Pleasant Street near Otis Street in Wakefield. He will be summoned to court.

1:34 p.m. - A car was reported stolen in Wakefield, then later located at the Redstone Crossing shopping center in Stoneham. Police said a victim reported that his 1994 Chevy pickup truck had been stolen. Police suspect it was loaded onto a flatbed truck to either be sold or scrapped. Police said the recovered vehicle was not damaged. An investigation is ongoing, but police said they have one suspect they are pursuing in the case.

2:26 p.m. - Youths were reported for being in possession of marijuana. Police issued them a citation.

6:11 p.m. - A Melrose man was charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle with a revoked registration on Farm Street in Wakefield. Police said they observed the man driving with one headlight on Farm Street. He will be summoned to Malden District Court on charges of operating with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and a lights violation.

8:24 p.m. - A fire broke out in a driver on Swansea Road. Wakefield Fire responded.

Sunday, February 19:
12:19 a.m. - A caller reported seeing two people fighting in the middle of Hawthorne Street. Police determined it was a disagreement between neighbors. No charges will be pressed.

1:44 p.m. - The owner of a Honda CRV that had been parked on Robert Street overnight reported someone had entered the car and stolen loose change.

2:33 p.m. - A minor car accident was reported on Main Street. No injuries were reported.

4:37 p.m. - A caller reported finding a syringe in the street on Albion Street near Foster Street.

5:42 p.m. - A caller reported seeing a suspicious male and female walking along Miles Lane and Parker Road towards Reading. However, police were unable to locate the two in the area.

10:28 p.m. - A caller complained about a group of youths urinating in a nearby parking lot on Main Street and throwing beer cans onto her lawn. However, police were unable to locate anyone fitting the description in the area.

Monday, Feb. 20:
1:28 a.m. - An employee of 7-11 reported seeing a car with two people sitting inside that has been idling for two hours. Police asked the individuals to leave.

10:48 p.m. - A resident of Vernon Street reported that his neighbor broke one of his windows with the shots from a BB gun. Police responded and removed the BB guns. No charges will be pressed at this time.

2:11 p.m. - A caller reported a car accident at the corner of Church Street and Prospect Street in Waefield. No one was injured.

6:12 p.m. - Police stopped the driver of a 1998 white Nissan Maxima for having a defective tail light. During the stop, police determined the driver had a small amount of marijuana on him. He was issued a citation.

8:17 p.m. - A group of youths was reported for causing a disturbance at McDonald's on Main Street. Police sent ten youths away from the restaurant.
