Police Log, Feb. 2: $650 in Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

Wakefield Police Log for Thursday, February 2:
Featured Item: 7:57 p.m. - The owner of two credit cards reported that there were $650 in fradulent credit card charges attributed to him. The victim said someone opened an account to Best Buy and racked up $276 in charges, and an account at Victoria's Secret, and spent $350. The owner was advised to cancel the credit cards and put a fraud watch on his account.

Other Incidents:
9:32 a.m. - A driver reported being the victim of a hit-and-run accident on Prospect Street and Hopkins Street. The individual reported driving on Prospect Street when a car described as a dark, 4-door sedan hit it at the intersection near Park Ave. No one was injuried in the crash.

11:42 a.m. - The owner of a business on West Water Street reported finding personal belongings inside offices. Police suspect it is a homeless person who has been sleeping inside the building at night.

4:23 p.m. - Wakefield Police assisted a parent with checking her two child safety seats in her car.

8:34 p.m. - A suspicious man was reported for walking up and down Avon Street ringing doorbells. Police determined the man was lost and helped him find the correct address.

9:20 p.m. - An officer on patrol in the area of Farm Street noticed a gray SUbaru traveling 46 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer stopped the car and noticed an odor of marijuana. The officer searched the car and found less than an ounce of marijuana. The driver was issued a citation.

9:40 p.m. - A resident of Farm Street reported that $600 was missing from her apartment. The victim said she had had friends over earlier in the evening and believed that's when the larceny occured. Police are investigating.
