Home Needed: Shadow, a Sweet Shepherd Mix

Treat yourself to a special Valentine: Shadow the shepherd.

Chocolates are nice on Valentine’s Day, but we think Shadow the German shepherd mix says I love you even better. She is ten years young, with a special personality that caught everyone’s attention right from the start. When Shadow arrived, she had some serious dental needs (and was most likely in pain). But her friendly nature and her desire to be friends with everyone she met made it clear to all involved that this girl deserved a chance at a life with a new family.

With the generous financial help from Poundhounds.org, Shadow received expert and loving care at VCA Wakefield Animal Hospital. She is now ready to find a home in which to enjoy her golden years. We emphasize “enjoy” here, because Shadow has a real zest for life. She adores car rides, short walks, and just hanging out with people. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. Despite her age and recent loss of her elderly owner, this beautiful dog is vibrant, charming, and sweet, and has much love to share with some lucky adopter or adopters.

Shadow is in good health, but she will need some daily medications to keep her that way.  Beyond that, she is just needs your love. Shadow would be happy in a home with other dogs, or as your only pet. She has lived with cats in the past, but seems to be just a little too playful around them now, so Shadow would do best in a home without felines. She has not been with children since coming into foster care, so we would need to check that out before adopting her to a home with young children. A home with adults or older children would be just perfect for this special Valentine.  Indeed, Shadow says “Be Mine,” and she means it every day of the year…. not just February 14.
