A True American Hero. I remember watching the historic journey. I can only imagine what his eyes seen. I also wonder why we never returned to the moon after several more landings...UFO'S? RIP Mr. Armstrong.

I remember being allowed to stay up way past my normal bedtime to see the spectacle. I recorded much of the mission on 3 1/2 inch reel to reel tapes on my little tape recorder. I still have those tapes today.

I also have the audio tapes on a reel. And I also have a 8mm movie of the take off from the moon as shown on the black and white TV set.

I remember after the landing, going outside that evening to look at the moon. I wondered why I wasn't able to see the lunar module or the guys "running around" on the moon. I figured they would take up half of the moon with that "huge" craft! Didn't quite have the concepts down at age 6!

I was 7 years old at my grandmother's house in Cambridge. A lot of the family had gotten together to watch the moon walk, and I remember seeing the blurry images of Neil Armstrong going down the ladder. My mom and dad woke me up at about 10:30 to see what was going to happen shortly before 11pm. This is what I watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQDjy2csPP0

R.I.P. Neil Armstrong. Not just an American hero, but a hero to all humanity. I was three years old in '69 and I remember watching the landing on TV with my family in England. I remember looking out of the main window at the sky trying to understand what I was watching. Since that day I have been hooked on space travel and all related subjects. Thank you Mr. Armstrong for your dedication to the progress of mankind.
