Lost Wakefield Puppy Found
The six-month-old puppy was last seen at the Irving Gas Station at Salem Street and Montrose Avenue.
Editors Note: Manokinak was found and is now safe and sound at home with his owners.
-------
Take a look at the picture above: Have you seen little Manokinak?
A six-month old puppy went missing near the intersection of Richardson and Main Street. He was spotted several times in Wakefield, most recently at Pump #12 at the Irving Gas Station on Salem St. and Montrose Avenue.
The Wakefield Police Department has reviewed the gas station's surveillance tape, but found the view area was obstructed. The Wakefield ACO Ken Stache has now notified the MSPCA, who will issue a Saber Alert.
Police suspect the dog was picked up in a car at the gas station, meaning the dog could now be anywhere.
The good news is that Manokinak has a microchip implanted to help identify him. If you run into this puppy, call 781-462-7445 to notify the owner, Rick Hall.

I live on Curtis but have friends & family in that area of Wakefield that I've already shared this with. I'm happy to help with the search when I get home tonight -- I also have 2 hounds (coon hound & a beagle) with excellent noses that would be happy to help if that is of interest. Please let me know (I'll automatically receive an update from this article).

Rick, I've posted it on my FB page & let people know that I'm going to help with the search this afternoon; I've asked for anyone's help as well. Couple of quick questions (I can call you in a little bit if it would be easier). 1. Have posters been made/put up? 2. Has food, water & or a humane-trap been put out?

UPDATE: Last location was Irving Gas Station - Salem Street Wakefield. Surveillance cameras could not get anything. Search and rescue dog used today and indicated missing pup's trail ended by gas pump at Irving - VERY LIKELY picked up by a vehicle.

I'm hoping my NewsTip to WCVB -Channel 5 will make it on the 11 PM news and EyeOpener. I just updated them on the latest events, forwarding the thread on here and FB. Wicked Local is affiliated with WCVB and Wakefield Observer who also has the information, so maybe it will raise the importance for them enough to cover it. You hopefully will get a phone call/interview request from them, Rick.

Manokinak was not actually last seen in Gloucester. When I called HomeAgain, they would only expand notification radius if they had another zip code. Looks like they generated a flyer based on that. HE WAS NOT ACTUALLY SEEN IN GLOUCESTER. FYI for everyone following...

Manokinak is home thanks to Carrie S. of Wakefield. Carrie spotted him in a yard on Nahant Street and was able to safely get him in her car. He's been fully examined by the Vet and he's good to go! I want to THANK the entire community for the support and determination to bring my little man home. :)

So very happy to hear that Manokinak is home safe. What an adventure he could tell us about, I'm sure, if we just understood his language. A found dog for one is a found dog for all, as it could have happened to any one of us, too. We are all rejoicing in your good news, Rick. Give Mano an extra belly-rub from me.

Contact Ken Stache, Wakefield ACO, at aco.stache@wakefieldpd.org or 781-231-0474 and he will be on the lookout for your dog. Even though it is a holiday, if he is around, he will contact you. if you have a photo of your dog get it uploaded here. Email photo and details to the "rag' newspapers. As Rick said, get posters up everywhere (especially hand out to businesses and homes in the area lost). Form a network of friends and neighbors to fan out in the area looking for your dog. I presume your dog is not micro-chipped or you would know to contact your provider. When you get your dog back, have it chipped...for next time! It is so worth the $20.
