What Are You Doing With The Kids On February Vacation?

Do you have big plans for every day, or are you still struggling to line up babysitting coverage? Our listings are here to help, and let us know what's already on tap in the comments section.

February school vacation week can be an exciting time for kids, but a harrowing one for parents.

Unlike other school vacations, there's not a major holiday to keep everyone busy, nor is the weather typically nice enough for a ton of outdoor activities.  Parents also often have to call in backups if they can't take the week off work, and the combination of new nannies, bad weather, and unplanned days is prime conditions for a epic outbreak of cabin fever

Fret not!  Next week isn't just February vacation week, it's also the week of President's Day and Fat Tuesday, two holidays that can inspire anything from ridiculous cotton-ball wigs to family pancake feasts.  However, if these holidays aren't enough to get your planning gears going, we've got events listings for things happening throughout the region.

On Monday the Medford events calendar shows two different week-long arts programs beginning that day, and on Tuesday in there's a Kids Dance Party listed in the Malden events calendar.

For those a little closer to Boston, the Somerville calendar has got a week-long science experimentation program for teenagers, and if you're farther away, Stoneham's calendar has February vacation events at the Stone Zoo listed.  Reading's calendar has week-long arts programming, including a stained glass workshop for those ages 15 and up, and Wakefield's calendar also has both kid-friendly activities and grown-up stuff to keep you sane.

Still not enough?  This is where we're hoping your neighbors will chime in.  If you've got plans for the kids already, share them in the comments section.  When it comes to the fight against cabin fever, we're all in this together.

You are planning a family vacation, but you and your spouse would like one romantic evening in your destination city. Wouldn’t having your babysitter nearby come in handy then? Additionally, by taking the babysitter on vacation with your family, you can potentially make the vacation more relaxing for the family.
