Five Things You Need To Know: March 11

Selectmen meet tonight. Tomorrow, students vs. faculty in annual Galvin Middle School basketball game.

 

Today is Monday, March 11th. Here are five things to know today.

Town Business: The Wakefield Selectmen meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Wakefield Cable Access TV Studios.

Galvin Student/Faculty Basketball Game: On Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., it’s the 8th annual Galvin Student/Faculty Basketball Game at the Wakefield High School Fieldhouse. The Galvin Faculty Golden Eagles take on the student Galvin Globetrotters. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and admission is $3 for students and $4 for adults. Please bring along a canned/nonperishable good to donate to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry as well.

Speaking of the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry, On Saturday, March 16th at 8 p.m., they’re having a concert to raise funds for it. Musicians Kim and Reggie Harris are performing, as is singer and folk guitarist Rabbi Jonathan Kligler. Click here for more information.

Meet Julia Child: Looking ahead to next month, the Delvena Theatre Company presents “Meet Julia Child” at the McCarthy Senior Center on Friday, April 5th at 1 p.m. The presentation focuses on the life of Julia Child followed by a discussion. Lunch is at noon for $3. Reservations required. 781-245-3312.

Art In Bloom: Over at the Lynnfield Library tonight from 7:45 to 9 p.m., they’re hosting the annual Art in Bloom opening night, featuring the combined work of local artists, gardeners, and students. Opening night features an informal tour of the displays with the artists and gardeners.
