Debates For Wakefield Local Election Candidates Announced
Debates between selectman, school committee candidates to be held April 1 at WCAT studio.
Wakefield Cable Access TV has announced two upcoming debates for the town’s election, both of which will be held on Monday, April 1st.
According to an announcement from WCAT, the first debate runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and will include candidates for the three school committee seats in contention. After a half hour break, the candidates for the three contested selectmen’s seats debate from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
“Even though we are little more than a month-and-a-half from the deadline for candidates filing papers with the town clerk, with all the political activity this spring, we at WCAT, are already making plans,” said WCAT producer David Watts Jr.
Both debates will be cablecast live on WCAT’s Government channel (Comcast – 22; Verizon – 42; RCN – 13).
Debates will be moderated by Wakefield Town Moderator Bill Carroll, who also sits on the WCAT board of directors. Local media representatives will also pose questions to candidates on various issues important to local voters.
School committee and selectman candidates who have already filed their papers can request an advance copy of the debate format and rules by emailing Watts at email@example.com.
