Best Place for Breakfast in Wakefield: Blue Moon Grill
Blue Moon Grill is the place most readers trust for their most important meal of the day, according to your votes.
Out of 113 votes in our poll, Blue Moon Grill netted 52, or 46 percent of the votes.
Blue Moon Grill is a small, family-run company located on Main Street (955 Main St.) in the Greenwood area of Wakefield. The restaurant, which opened only two years ago specializes in breakfast and lunch.
Owners Nancy and Vinny Chiuchiolo opened the restaurant when the economy threw them a life-changing curveball back in 2009, when both lost their jobs. It was then that they decided to completely change careers, and open up a small breakfast place in Wakefield.
Nancy Chiuchiolo said the restaurant has made a name for itself using only the freshest, never frozen, ingredients for their breakfast and lunch options, such as french toast, omelettes, wraps and paninis - the kind of home-cooking style that's hard to find in restaurants.
"Our food is made with all fresh ingrediants with no additives," said Chiuchiolo, noting that people stop in after workouts for a fresh egg-white omlette. "It feels like we're inviting them right into our home."
But Chiuchiolo said what makes Blue Moon Grill unique is the family-like feel they strive to create.
"It's small, so when people come in, we know them, we know their family, we know their favorite drink, and with new people, we make sure to welcome them to our home," she said.
Four other businesses received several votes, but didn't quite come out on top. Brother's Deli Restaurant received second place, with 23 votes, or 20 percent, and North Ave Diner came in 3rd, with 13 votes, or 11 percent. Honorable mentions were Omelette Headquarters and newcomer Eddie's Restaurant and Mexican Grill.
