Wakefield’s fourth annual “Tis the Season” Holiday Stroll is scheduled for Saturday December 1, 2012 in downtown Wakefield.  Many activities will be taking place at the Americal Civic Center before the parade. Starting at 1:00 p.m.  in the Heritage Room, the Wakefield Music Boosters will sell tickets to the Polar Express event, Wakefield Food Pantry will collect non-perishable items and the Chamber of Commerce will take orders for poinsettias. Don’t forget to fill out the form on the flyer you received in this month’s WMGLD bill and enter to win $100 worth of EPC bucks to spend at participating Stroll stores.

Holiday Stroll Tote bags will be free to the first 500( one per family). In the main hall of the Civic Center from 1p.m. to 2:45 p.m., children’s entertainment, facepainting  and crafts will be hosted by Kidcasso Art Studio and the Wakefield High School art students. The ever popular Holiday Stroll Hat parade will form on Armory Street and proceed down Main Street to the Beebe Library led by the award winning Wakefield High School Marching band directed by Tom Bankert. The parade leaves promptly at 3:00 p.m. and everyone is invited to join!

Entertainment is abundant this year and sure to please all ages. Outdoor venues are at Beebe Library plaza ( Candy Cane Stage), and Ice Stage on Main Street outside the Lincoln Street Parking lot. More dance troupes can be enjoyed on Albion Street  near Santa’s Workshop. Entertainment can be found indoors at many businesses as well. Check out the map and schedule of events printed this week in the Wakefield Daily Item or look for maps displayed at participating merchant’s windows. ( Look for the official Holiday Wreath decal on participating businesses’ doors.)

Watch for Mrs Claus as she strolls Main Street and Albion , she so enjoys meeting and chatting with Wakefield’s children. Don’t forget to drop your letters to Santa in the special mailbox located on Albion Street next to the Wakefield Item Building.

As you holiday shop downtown you will be entertained by carolers, students from local dance studios, a juggler, the Senior Tones, Kitch- N- Sync Improv group, Wakefield Music , Lucky Bob Variety Show and more! Local celebrities Valerie Giglio , Carissa Scudieri  and Kevin Moore will perform as well as The Voice 2012 contestant James Massone. Wade Parsons will be creating beauty in ice.
